Dataplex
What is it
Dataplex is a data fabric that helps unify distributed data and automate data management and governance across that data to power analytics at scale. Dataplex enables standardization and unification of metadata, security policies, governance, classification, and data lifecycle management across this distributed data.
Why we use it
To standardize and unify data management across different types of sources. At the time of writing, our data platform is relatively coherent, so the value of introducing it now (H1 2022) would most likely not do, but understanding its roadmap and use cases might be good when thinking about scaleabillity in the future
When to use it
When the data platform starts diverging and getting sparse from a technology and organization point of view.
